Mr. Laolu Davies-Yemitan is an alumnus of the University of Houston-Downtown where he was an honors graduate earning a BS in Biotechnology. Laolu has a long track record of advocating for a brighter future for the citizens of Houston, and his work has allowed him to experience different areas of interest including working on a number of district, city, and county-wide political campaigns. In addition to working on campaigns, Laolu also had a short stint at City Hall as consultant and legislative director for then Council Member Pam Holm during the Bill White mayoral administration. Laolu remains a close advisor to a number of local elected officials, and state legislators.   In 2005 he founded Five Woods LLC a commercial real estate and facilities services firm based in Houston, and is currently serving as the Managing Director of governmental relations for the Carreno Group, Inc, a Houston based public affairs firm.

In addition to his work in public affairs, Laolu is also a humanitarian that continues to make service to others a priority through his continued involvement in community organizations which currently includes CSTEM, Real Men Read, Harris County Children’s Assessment Center, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.  Laolu has demonstrated through his life’s work the value he places on collaborative leadership.  He is a graduate and continues to be involved with the flagship programs of Leadership Houston and The Center for Houston’s Future. Laolu is also involved with the Galleria Chamber of Commerce, AfriPro Houston, and the Greater Houston Partnership, and serves on the boards of the Houston Citizens Chamber of Commerce, Houstonians for Responsible Growth, and chairs the advisory board for the Barbara Jordan/Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs at Texas Southern University.
