Hector C. Carreno is the Senior Partner & CEO of the Carreno Group, Inc., an award winning Houston-based public relations and public affairs firm.
Hector’s career began over 30 years ago, working with both public and private corporations throughout the Americas. Since 1992, he has played a key role in numerous successful campaigns on behalf of national trade associations, Fortune 1000 companies, and public institutions. For the past seven years, the Carreno Group has been ranked one of the top public relations firms by the Houston Business Journal.
In November of 2010, Mayor Anise Parker appointed Hector as Chairman of Houston Business Development, Inc., the economic development affiliate of Houston city government. He’s also on the board of K9s4Cops, the Lone Star Leadership & Policy Center, and the Latino Business Roundtable.
Hector has served on many civic and corporate boards. He served on the board of an American Stock Exchange listed company and was appointed by the U.S. Commerce Secretary to serve as a member of the U.S. District Export Council. Hector also served on the board of the Houston 2012 Olympic Committee, the Chicago Mayor’s Business Roundtable, and the advisory board of Metro Bank, among others.
He has a BA in Political Science from Northeastern Illinois University. Born in Cuba, Hector immigrated to the United States with his family in 1961 and became a U.S. citizen in 1973.
He’s the proud owner of three jewels, Bella and Lucy from the SPCA and NikoNiko a little stray found underneath a freeway.
